You have the option to create your own personalized health benefits package. This can be created from the options below.
STATE SPONSORED HEALTH/LIFE PLAN

As an employee of the State of Mississippi and Mississippi State Hospital, you are eligible to participate in the State Health and Life Insurance programs covered by the State or Public School Employees’ Health Insurance Plan.   Employees are eligible for coverage on the date of employment. Insurance premiums are paid in advance through payroll deduction.  Only full-time employees are eligible to participate.

Health insurance for the employee is provided by Mississippi State Hospital at no cost to the employee.  Dependent coverage is offered and paid by the employee.

Employees are offered term life insurance in which the employee pays half the cost and Mississippi State Hospital pays half the cost.  The amount of life insurance varies according to the annual salary at a minimum of $30,000 and a maximum of $100,000.  The amount of life insurance increases automatically as the annual salary increases.

OPTIONAL PLANS

Offered through payroll deduction.  Premiums are paid by the employee.

An intensive care plan, hospital indemnity plan, accident with disability plan, term life insurance plan, specified health event policy and disability plan is available.  This coverage is available to employees, spouses and their children and is portable coverage.

A cancer plan and intensive care plan is available.  These plans were developed for employees of the Ms. Department of Mental Health.

Three types of voluntary life insurance and an accident disability plan is available.  This coverage is available to employees, their spouses, children and grandchildren and is portable coverage.

A dental plan with your choice of dentists is available.

A secondary life insurance plan is available to employees, their spouses and children and is portable coverage.

A medical gap plan (secondary health plan) is available to employees, their spouses and children and is portable coverage.

A disability plan is available to employees, their spouses and children and is portable coverage.

A vision plan is available to assist with eye examinations and corrective lenses.

COBRA (CONTINUATION COVERAGE)
Under the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA), eligible employees may be able to temporarily continue insurance coverage after termination or other "qualifying events".
CAFETERIA PLAN
Pro-Tech Group manages the education and enrollment of the Section 125 or Cafeteria Plan which is provided to all employees free of charge.  An employee may save money by tax sheltering insurance premiums, dependent care and unreimbursed medical expenses.
