PERSONAL LEAVE

Full-time employees earn monthly between 18 days to 27 days per year (based on length of service).  Part-time employees earn monthly on a pro-rata basis. No limit on amount that can be accumulated.  May be used for vacations or personal business. The State Leave Law and Public Employees’ Retirement System Law allow service credit for unused and uncompensated personal leave at retirement.  Credit for unused leave is awarded at no cost to the member.

MAJOR MEDICAL LEAVE
Full-time employees earn monthly between 7.5 days and 12 days per year (based on length of service).  Part-time employees earn monthly on a pro-rata basis.  No limit on amount that can be accumulated.  May be used for employee/employee immediate family member illness after the first eight (8) hours, may use up to three (3) days for each occurrence of death in immediate family, or may use to cover regularly scheduled visits to the doctor’s office or hospital for the continuing treatment of a chronic disease, as certified in advance by a physician. The State Leave Law and Public Employees’ Retirement System Law allow service credit for unused and uncompensated major medical leave at retirement.  Credit for unused leave is awarded at no cost to the member.
ADMINISTRATIVE LEAVE
Paid leave that may be granted to an employee serving as a witness, juror or party litigant.
HOLIDAYS
Full-time employees are eligible to earn ten (10) paid legal holidays and for any other day proclaimed by the Governor.  Part-time employees are eligible to earn based on number of hours regularly scheduled to work.
MILITARY LEAVE
Members of the armed forces are entitled to a maximum of fifteen (15) days of leave without loss of pay or benefits for days when ordered to active duty and shall be entitled to leave of absence for periods in excess of fifteen (15) days.
LEAVE WITHOUT PAY
Probationary employees may request leave without pay not to exceed thirty (30) days for medical reasons after all other paid leave has been exhausted.
FAMILY MEDICAL LEAVE ACT (FMLA)
Entitles eligible employees up to twelve (12) weeks of unpaid, job protected leave during a 12-month period for certain family and medical reasons.
